So we've been out and about looking at new flooring and trying to decide what we'd like to put down in the kitchen. I want to put down a laminate of some kind and have the look of "wood" since "one day" we'll be ripping out the Gawd Awful carpeting in the living/dining rooms and refinishing the wonderful 55 year old original oak floors. I want to try and aim for flooring that "looks" the same. The biggest argument dear hubby wubby and I have is over the flooring that will be put down in the kitchen. He wants to put down tile, I don't! He suggested another linoleum, and I don't want that either. He's trying to think of what will last and withstand water and spills. I want something that will do all that and look good too. In all honesty this argument is one of the major reasons we haven't updated the flooring in the house. We just cannot seem to agree or even find a compromise....That is, until today.
Look-y what I found!!! I am sooo inspired! (this is my inspiration photo)
Isn't it wonderful? I love the warmth and beauty of wood floors~ the richness...sigh* BUT WAIT! Guess what!
It's VINYL !!! That's right! VINYL !!! Oh, the Gods of faux flooring be praised. A floor that will not only appease hubby wubby but satisfy my need for the richness, the warmth, and the look of wood.
It's vinyl plank flooring and is super easy to install. You just lay it down over your old laminate and it "floats". It has an adhesive on the back and you just stagger the "planks" to give it some interest and texture. We'll be taking measurements soon and I see an installation in the near future.
Yes, I'm doing some major happy dancing over here!
Remember that half the joy of achievement is in the anticipation.

It's fabulous, Rechelle. We installed harwood floors in our kitchen and bathrooms a few years ago and it's the best thing we've ever done to our house.
Rechelle, I wanted you to know that I'll be out of town at the time, but I'll be tagging you on 4/25.

RECHELLE,THIS IS BEAUTIFUL.YOU MUST BE SO PROUD!HAVE A GREAT DAY! BLESSINGS, FAYE
A perfect solution! It's very pretty and should be easy to care for. Can't wait!
That looks great!
Yay! I love it!
Be a sweetie,

Rehelle...awesome! I love this! So glad you fought the tile...I have it and I am soo unhappy with it. It's cold, it's hard to keep the grout clean and if you drop something heavy...it cracks.
Can't wait to see the final look!

Great choice Rechelle..You'll love this..I have hardwood in my kitchen and have never been sorry...had it for 21 years now..Hope you have a great day dear friend...hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
You must let me know where you found this and keep me updated on how it goes. I've been looking for this and want it in my kitchen. We have to do vinyl bc 1- I have no money- ha and 2- the floor in the old farmhouse is so uneven. This would match the hardwood floors throughout the rest of our house! Keep me posted, please :)
I wish I had found that before we went with tile in our kitchen...it's so hard to keep clean, too much scrubbing. I would rather dust the wood or wood-like floor than clean off white tile...ugh. Oh well...we're moving so it doesn't matter much plus it is an upgrade from the 10 year old white vinyl we had before. Great job.
That looks so good and while that is a fabulous kitchen it is in the spirit of what I hope my smaller one will look like when we paint the cabinets white. I was going to go with black and white tile but I think I will look into wood as it looks really good.
Have A Terrific Tuesday

It look fab Rechelle...can't wait to see pics of when it's installed. Glad you guys could compromise on it!

What a wonderful find! It really looks like real wood. Where is it available!
Rechelle, I loved seeing your comment today. I have had so much company my visiting took a big hit. My cousin Marilyn and her hubby will be here until this Sunday. Then back to MI. They do not use computers at all and that is a problem. When I am on the computer she is left out. I love having them so I am trying to make time for both. LOL.
I love your idea for new wood look floors. I had them in my house in FL. in the kitchen and breakfast room. It was the best thing I ever did. It looked like parquet and everyone thought it was real wood. I think you will be real pleased with the plank look flooring. It look fab. I hope you will share when you do the makeover.
Have a happy day, what is left of it. Smile.
Hugs...Jeanne
Those floors look great, you would never know they are not wood. I have seen these used many times on decorating shows, they seem so much more practical than hardwood which needs refinishing and is sensitive to moisture. Show us a photo when it's done!
Very nice, I often wish I had white cabinets and I love that center island.
It is absolutely stunning. How pretty and how much fun.

Thank you for visiting my post about my daughter's birthday! I have fallen behind on blog reading. I find it hard to stay caught up on everyone's blog. Today I caught up on yours since the last time I visited. I am happy you are excited about your new floor. I hope you do a post when it is finished. Actually during too.
What a gorgeous kitchen!! I love the white cabinets...nice floor too..haha even if it is "faux" :)
Hi Rechelle!
I am in awe of your comment about the Debussey piece! I was so compelled to put the Debussey music at the top of my list. I have had it sitting at the bottom of my play list for a while. I'm so glad you happened to visit when I had it at the top. A little "Hi Rechelle, I love you!" from your mom? who knows?
I'm glad you felt her in the music!
Love the flooring! It's going to look fabulous in your kitchen. I also saw your post on the corner cabinet... I would give it new life with the red paint! It would look so gorgeous Rechelle. I have not been sorry about painting pieces. If it makes it more love because it fits into your life and your needs then it's a good thing.
Speaking of good things, your laundry room ideas are great. The ball jar with the spoon... is that the cutest or what?!
Big hugs, Sherry
Thanks for popping in to see my late tablescape, Rechelle! I can't wait to see your new floors!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)
I can't wait to see your "after" pics. I know it will be stunning!

Oh PLEASE send me a link to this stuff--it just might fit the bill for my kitchen☺
I have 20 boxes of vinyl planks sitting in my basement just waiting to be laid. I can't wait! I saw that you are thinking about painting your laminate counters. Check out my blog and see mine. You should go for it!
