Outdoor Wednesday--I love the Coast...

It's time for Outdoor Wednesday which is so graciously hosted by Susan @ The Southern Daydreamer. Be sure to pay her a visit and see who else is the "outdoorsy" type.

(*I know I've shared these pics in the past, but I've made so many new blogging friends, I know the pics will be "new" to some)

The infamous highway 46 (FKA highway 466) where actor James Dean lost his life. He was attempting to make that right hand turn onto highway 41.

We take this highway on our way up to the central coast. In the spring, these hills are as green as can be.
Cruising up scenic Highway 1.
You can see the fog rolling in...
And as we were cruising up the highway,
this was the view from my window.
Isn't it awesome
how the clouds mimic the shape/wave
of the ocean waters?
Almost like magic...

Bobbing on the water...
Elephant Seals sunbathing...
Hey! Don't be throwing me
"the fin"!

Mine, Mine, Mine...
High tide...
Isn't it amazing
how the ocean waters
can change the colors
depending on the "day"?
This day was gray and overcast...

This is the picture I have
in my "about me/profile" area.
It is one of my very favorite
spots to just "be"...

Thanks for visiting the coast with me. I sure hope you enjoyed yourself...

Just beautiful!!
Some of it looks just like the Oregon coast.
I have never seen the clouds like that before.
They really do look like waves.

Thanks for sharing these great pics.

I've seen those elephant seals I've been there before!! LOL. Great photos! That one of the clouds looking like waves is trippy!! Looking at the picture of where James Dean crashed I'm like what in the world did he crash into!? I see nothing there! LOL

All the best,
Allison

Dear Rechelle,
I LOVED...LOVED...LOVED EVERY SINGLE PICTURE. BEAUTIFUL.
I love the clouds pretending to be waves...that would make a cute children's story....how the waves wanted to be the clouds and the clouds wanted to be waves...they were not happy doing what they were created to be......
Happy Outdoor Wednesday...you did a wonderful job
hugs

I had to laugh because all my grand kids say Mine Mine if you ask them what sea gulls say. Lovely photos and I have not been on Hiway 1 forever.

Love the beautiful photos of the ocean - we traded in that for the mountains but I do miss it sometimes!

Hi Rechelle,
I love your pictures of the coast. That is one of my favorite drives. I live in So Cal, and love the Central Coast. Maybe we are neighbors. Happy Outdoor Wednesday and thanks for stopping by my blog.

Rechelle,
You took some great photos. I have driven on Hwy 1. It certainly has so much scenic beauty and I love the monolithic rocks that jet out of the water. Enjoy it for me. ~Cathy~

Beautiful pictures. It's nice to see mountains and hills - sometimes I forget they exist living in a flat land!

I agree. Beautiful coastal photos. Wish I lived near an ocean. But I can look at your photos here and feel pretty darned close, even in Texas!

Rechelle,

These are stunning pictures (I hadn't seen them before). I never realized that you lived along such a rocky coast, it reminds me of the Northern East coast.

I really think the picture of rhe clouds mimicing the waves is awesome. You should frame that one! And those seals are precious. I love seeing animals (mammals) having fun!!

That picture with the wave clouds is absolutely amazing. It almost doesn't look real. I love it.

Pictures of home. Pictures of roads I have traveled all my life..places I have been. I LOVE IT! As beautiful as the East Coast is...I am so glad I am home. But..highway 41 is..dangerous!
I go out of my way not to get on it. I lived in Bakersfield for years and my husband was born there...we kept off it..but spring is such a lovely time of year to get out and drive!
Allison..James was going too fast. It happens...
I still remember the shock when I heard the news. It didn't seem possible. I loved his acting..and fell in love with him in GIANT. James had that ..something..and it was only getting better with years...and then he was gone! I still get that sad feeling when I think of him!
Rebel Without a Cause...gosh...we were all so young back then..
Hugs..

A lovely day at the sea with you. I am so pleased those seals are only sunbathing. A week or two ago a number of whales were beached at the Cape, South Africa and all lost their lives.

Thanks for taking us with you to the coast. Awesome pictures, I especially enjoyed seeing the elephant seals sunbathing. I really love the picture of the view down the steps to the high tide :)
