(*I know I've shared these pics in the past, but I've made so many new blogging friends, I know the pics will be "new" to some)
The infamous highway 46 (FKA highway 466) where actor James Dean lost his life. He was attempting to make that right hand turn onto highway 41.
We take this highway on our way up to the central coast. In the spring, these hills are as green as can be.
And as we were cruising up the highway,
this was the view from my window.
Isn't it awesome
how the clouds mimic the shape/wave
of the ocean waters?
Almost like magic...

Oh Rechelle, I just love seeing your spot on your coast!! It's so very different than down here!! These photos look like postcards!!
I love, love, love the photo where the clouds look like waves!!! I wonder how many other people took a photo of them!!
Thank you so much for sharing these awesome pics!!

Rechelle, I never get tired of seeing pics of the West Coast! And those seals! OH, they are cute!

What absolutely stunning pictures. I love them all.
How amazing God's creations are! I am truly mesmerized by them. :)
I giggled when I read about the seal giving you the fin! LOL
Blessings,
Sandra
Wonderful and interesting pictures. Thanks for sharing them.
Just beautiful!!
Some of it looks just like the Oregon coast.
I have never seen the clouds like that before.
They really do look like waves.
Thanks for sharing these great pics.

I've seen those elephant seals I've been there before!! LOL. Great photos! That one of the clouds looking like waves is trippy!! Looking at the picture of where James Dean crashed I'm like what in the world did he crash into!? I see nothing there! LOL
All the best,
Allison
Happy Outdoor Wednesday Rechelle! Puh-leeze tell me you were not driving AND taking pictures (like I do, LOL). I could stay there all day and wave-watch! Thanks for sharing your photos.~ Susan
Is this along the Big Sur? My hubby and I were along there about 3 summers ago and it was awe inspiring. Fabulous pics! Cindy
Dear Rechelle,
I LOVED...LOVED...LOVED EVERY SINGLE PICTURE. BEAUTIFUL.
I love the clouds pretending to be waves...that would make a cute children's story....how the waves wanted to be the clouds and the clouds wanted to be waves...they were not happy doing what they were created to be......
Happy Outdoor Wednesday...you did a wonderful job
hugs

I had to laugh because all my grand kids say Mine Mine if you ask them what sea gulls say. Lovely photos and I have not been on Hiway 1 forever.
The Raggedy Girl
Love the beautiful photos of the ocean - we traded in that for the mountains but I do miss it sometimes!
Hi Rechelle,
I love your pictures of the coast. That is one of my favorite drives. I live in So Cal, and love the Central Coast. Maybe we are neighbors. Happy Outdoor Wednesday and thanks for stopping by my blog.

Hi Rechelle,
This part of our coast is so cool and dramatic. I love your shots. I took a drive to the coast yesterday and found a new great beach I'll probably share next week :0)
Happy O.W. to you...
Oh, I love the coast too!!! We lived in southern California for about 20 years and I miss it so!!!
We stay in La Jolla every July and it never seems to come fast enough!!!
Your photos are so wonderful...capturing the essence of the coastline perfectly!!!
Happy Outdoor Wednesday!!!
XOXO

Rechelle,
You took some great photos. I have driven on Hwy 1. It certainly has so much scenic beauty and I love the monolithic rocks that jet out of the water. Enjoy it for me. ~Cathy~
The pictures are just wonderful..., the ocean so magnificent, and it's pretty cool that you captured those "wave" clouds.
Your photos are wonderful and capture that spectacular drive quite well. Thank you for sharing them with us.
Ah, the seals, baking and rolling in the warm sand! Wonderful scenery and shots!
These pictures are just amazing! I wish I was there ♥ So very pretty.
I absolutley love your post! You could make the postcards or frame them they are so beautiful. I hope to visit the West Coast sometime, but for now your pictures will have to do :)
Thanks for sharing!
Crystal
Love, love, LOVE these pictures. The "throw me the fin" one cracked me up.
Beautiful pictures. It's nice to see mountains and hills - sometimes I forget they exist living in a flat land!

Pretty! So different from our coast here in NY!
Great pics!
Beautiful! I, (living in California), have made the trip up Highway 1 several times, twice on the back of a Harley. I recognize every picture. but I never got to see the clouds doing the WAVE!!!
Wonderful costal pictures...I know exacty where JD's accident was...too sad. I'm like you I love the ocean and lots of fog...seeing these pictures is a perfect ending to a busy day...hugs, Linda
I agree. Beautiful coastal photos. Wish I lived near an ocean. But I can look at your photos here and feel pretty darned close, even in Texas!

Rechelle,
These are stunning pictures (I hadn't seen them before). I never realized that you lived along such a rocky coast, it reminds me of the Northern East coast.
I really think the picture of rhe clouds mimicing the waves is awesome. You should frame that one! And those seals are precious. I love seeing animals (mammals) having fun!!
xoxo

That picture with the wave clouds is absolutely amazing. It almost doesn't look real. I love it.
Oh, such beautiful pictures.
Pictures of home. Pictures of roads I have traveled all my life..places I have been. I LOVE IT! As beautiful as the East Coast is...I am so glad I am home. But..highway 41 is..dangerous!
I go out of my way not to get on it. I lived in Bakersfield for years and my husband was born there...we kept off it..but spring is such a lovely time of year to get out and drive!
Allison..James was going too fast. It happens...
I still remember the shock when I heard the news. It didn't seem possible. I loved his acting..and fell in love with him in GIANT. James had that ..something..and it was only getting better with years...and then he was gone! I still get that sad feeling when I think of him!
Rebel Without a Cause...gosh...we were all so young back then..
Hugs..
Mona
A lovely day at the sea with you. I am so pleased those seals are only sunbathing. A week or two ago a number of whales were beached at the Cape, South Africa and all lost their lives.
Thanks for taking us with you to the coast. Awesome pictures, I especially enjoyed seeing the elephant seals sunbathing. I really love the picture of the view down the steps to the high tide :)
