Vintage Thingies Thursday & Tender Graces...

It's time for me to take a break from my Spring cleaning and join in on Vintage Thingies Thursday. VTT is hosted by the ever gracious Suzanne @ Colorado Lady. Be sure to pay her a visit, say "Hi!" and see who else is doing it VINTAGE today.

Books have always been a key part of my life and my enjoyment. I love to escape into lands far away, the adventures and romance drive me to "dream" and give me the "break" I need to make it through anything stressful that may come my way.

Allow me to share my Colliers Junior Classics and my New Junior Classics, Series One and Two (circa 1962-). One is a complete set and the other I'm missing the first volume. I'm actually "watching" an auction on Ebay right now to see if I can "win" volume I :0)
(There is a book on the far right that doesn't belong in the series but it fits perfectly to keep the books "straight & neat". Good for their spines.

One of my all time favorite stories...
Look at the "artwork". I dare not call them simple illustrations because in my honest opinion, they are far more then that.

I love you Beast...

Thanks for stopping by and sharing a bit of your day with me. Be sure to let me know you were here!
Here's wishing you a wonderful VTT.

TENDER GRACES~

My friend Faye @ Something Nanna Made shared a bit of information about a free conferance on Autism. Many children are afflicted with this illness and I'm happy to share what Faye has written. Please visit Faye and read her posts about Sweet Noah who will touch your heart, about his mom Amy who is amazing and about big brother Luke and how he all ready knows Noah is something special.
God Bless them all.

Oh Rechelle. How lovely those books, I sure am hoping you win the missing one. How cool is that that there is JUST enough space on there for the set? You just gotta get that last one!

Rechelle,
Thanks for coming by and your sweet comment.

I love old books too, and have some i display on at the store, and some i use pages out of for art, and a few to sell. Usually have a hard time parting with them. =0)

What a great post! I agree-the art work in old books is often much more than "mere" illustration!

The illustrations are wonderful, vintage books are the best. I have several vintage books about bears...as I collect bear stuff, and the stories and pictures do not compare with something of today.
Hope you win the first one!
Have a great week and thanks for sharing with us today.

What a splendid collection of books. The art work is fantastic. You don't see that type of art work in books today.

Rechelle,

How nice that you still have that collection! Best of luck snagging Volume I...

Illustrations always make a collector out of me (my inner artist trying to escape!). I recently found a keepsake edition of Pride and Prejudice with Victorian illustrations and I prize it. Hopefully my children will too!

Happy you took a day off from cleaning! Have you decided how to finish your pantry?

Oh how I love books--especially sets of beautiful, classic looking classics! good luck on your ebay bid!

The illustrations make the books for me. There is so much history in them alone. They depict much more than the story they go with. Great that you have the room in your home for them!

I grew up with that exact same Beauty and the Beast. I read it literally a million times. I stared at those pictures for a million hours. Think of all I would have accomplished if I had not had that book!
