Vintage Thingies Thursday is hosted by Suzanne, The Colorado Lady
Be sure to pay her a visit and see who else is rolls vintage...
This is something I've shared on my blog before, but I've met so many new bloggerina's, I thought it would be a perfect addition to Vintage Thingies Thursday.
It's a Christening Gown. I, as well as my two daughters were Christened in this gown. It was made for me.
Notice the hand embroidery...This detailing is also on the skirt of the gown but I was unable to get a good shot of it.
This is the underskirt...
And cap. The embroidery was never completed on this. I've thought about having someone "finish" it, but that's all I've done...just "think" about it.Thanks for stopping by and spending some time with me. I hope you'll let me know you were here. May the rest of your day be great!
What a beautiful gown, I know you cherish it. Do you have it stored in a special way? Wouldn't it be great for your Granddaughters to use it also one day.
That is a beautiful Christening Gown and Cap- a wonderful family heirloom! Thanks for sharing.
It's amazing & a treasure to behold :)
This is exquisite!!! A cherished Family Heirloom is always a special thing.
Exquisite! I'd leave the cap unfinished. That is as much a part of it's history as anything else.
Your christening gown is so beautiful and what a wonderful legacy to pass it down through your family.
How very special. Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos.
This is so gorgeous, Rechelle! The workmanship and the gorgeous material are dazzling.
Those are so beautiful. Wow, what a treasure.
What a treasure to have that christening gown. It is lovely.
I see "Cookie" on your sidebar. we have a minature schnauzer too. Her name is "Poochie" she is black and silver. I like your"Daisy" too.
What a wonderful treasure this is..it's just beautiful. Happy VTT and have a lovely day.
The gown is just lovely. That kind of work isn't done much today as the supplies aren't readily available and heirloom embroidery is almost a lost art.
Have you seen gowns displayed in shadow boxes that hang on the wall? Yours would surely look lovely that way. :)
Rechelle, that is so beautiful! You're lucky you have it!
Oooh...what a beautiful christening gown and such a treasure too! I love all of the hand embroidering...makes it quite exquisite!!! Thanks for sharing it with me (just one of the new "bloggerina's...hehe!)
What a beautiful gown. And what a lovely display of pictures. Thanks for sharing with us this treasure! Have a great week.
These are beautiful. Love the detail work.
Lovely gown! Thank you for stopping by my blog. I love your blog header...I see you have a stack of Good Ol' Days books. We have quite a few of them, too. :-)
I tried to comment this a.m. on here, but my puter was acting all funny. I love the heritage behind the gown....so neat. Thanks for stopping by my blog and looking at the prom dress. Did you read the post about my sewing dummy? I'm such a MEAN MOMMY!!!
Hi Rechelle, What an adorable christening gown. What a precious thing to still have as an heirloom! ~CC Catherine ;)
That gown is so charming and is that a Wilendur tablecloth I see?
This christening gown is an exquisite design and a wonderful family heirloom.
Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving your kind comment!
The gown and bonnet are precious! My friend had someting similar and she had a shadowbox made for it and displayed it on her wall.
What a lovely family heirloom to cherish. I don't think you should have anyone finish the cap, just because that's part of it's charm.
How lovely to own a special piece of clothing to be passed on. A christening gown is a treasure indeed!
Oh, Rechelle, how beautiful! What a treasure you still have it and have continued to use it!
bE a sweetie,
Absolutely beautiful- I have mine but sadly my frugal Mum cut it short & both my sisters wore it as a Sunday dress.it's worn & thing now.You are son fortunate to have this treasure.
Very nice, and it all looks so well kept too :-)
Oh, Rechelle, that christening gown is gorgeous. A lot of love went into that precious gown. It is so awesome that your daughter's wore it too. The bonnet is so sweet. Do you have photos? I'll be waiting to see them.
I am finally feeling better. The exercise is tough but this too will pass. Thanks for your compliment to Bob. He is so deserving and sweet.
Love and hugs today...Jeanne
Very Beautiful! I enjoyed every view! Wonderful keepsake and truly to be treasured!
Thank you so much for sharing this!
Blessings to you!
That is beautiful!! How special it is that you have that in your family still.
What a beautiful gown. We all wore the same gown and now our kids are wearing it too.
Lovely gown. I too have a dress that I wore as a baby and that my daughter also wore. It's still in perfect condition and waiting the next girl in the family! :) Isn't it great when we can have a family heirloom that means so much.
