Show & Tell Friday 11/7
It's Friday! Time for Show & Tell so graciously hosted by Kelli @ There's no place like home
Be sure to pay her a visit and see who else is "sharing" today.
This is something I shared months ago in another post, but I daresay it deserves a repeat performance (and the batteries died in my camera making it impossible to upload the shots I had originally decided to share. Ah well, there's always next week.). It's a Christening Gown. I, as well as my two daughters were Christened in this gown. It was made especially for me.
(click on any picture to enlarge)
Notice the hand embroidery...This detailing is also on the skirt of the gown . This is the underskirt...The gown...And cap. The embroidery was never completed on this. I've thought about having someone "finish" it, but that's all I've done...just "think" about it. I can't help but feel like I should leave it alone...
Thanks for spending some of your Friday with me. I hope you'll let me know you were here :0).
Have a fantastic day!

What a precious, precious gown and hat!
Oh this is gorgeous - do you have a place to keep it displayed, or does it have to be packed away? Will you pass it on?
Thank you for taking the time to share!

How lovely and satiny and quite the family heirloom!
Thanks for dropping by my blog too. I added a few excerpts from my gr-grandmother's book just now.
What a beautiful heirloom!
Thanks for visiting my blog. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Blessings,

Beautiful. My daughter was baptized in the same gown I was baptized in. One of my friends made a Christening gown once out of some clippings from everyone's wedding dresses, but I have no idea how.
The gown is gorgeous. How nice that you still have it.

How special to have such a precious heirloom...and someday, your daughter's daughters will wear it...I wouldn't have someone finish it...it's perfect the way it is...beautiful.
Blessings,
Susie

Hi Rechelle,
The gown is very lovely and precious:) I have one that is 100 years old and I gave it back to my Mom and she is thinking about giving it to a museum where my Grandparents grew up. My Grand daughter wore it for pictures.
You need to stop by...??!! :)
Warmly,
Deb

Truly, that is one of the most gorgeous Christening gowns I have ever seen! I think I would leave it as is, tho I'd be torn about having it finished too. I like seeing the pattern to be stiched tho! But if washed, will that fade away?
This is lovely. What an incredible treasure.
I just stopped in to view your Pink Saturday post.
