You know what that means?!
It's time for THREE OR MORE THURSDAY !!!
Yahoo! Three or More Thursday is hosted by the lovely Tam @ The Gypsy's Corner.
Be sure to pay her a visit and see who else is showing their "Three's & More".
Actually this is the little "cubby" in the hall.
I think originally it was built as the phone center or message area.
There is an old looking phone jack below this first shelf that makes me think that.
I keep my books here. These are maybe 1/100th of what I truly have (seriously). I'm a firm believer that one can not have to many books. My hope, is that as our children leave our nest, I'll be able to turn a spare room into my "library". It'll be where I can put out all my books, read to my hearts content...it will be one of my "happy places". Of course then I return to the reality and realize that we will not be empty nester's for a good long while (which is a good thing) and even if one of the older girls decides to try her wings and fly away, the extra room will be given to one of my boys.
This is the second and third shelves as we move up. I've a pretty eclectic mix of books out right now. I generally change the books out every few months. You can see there's a book that gets a lot of attention. The covering on the spine is torn. Actually that book does have a broken spine.
See that Childcraft series? I purchased those the same day I purchased the dishes I shared in Monday's post...At the county fair when my eldest girl was 10 months old. These were bought with her in mind. Now five of "our" children have enjoyed this set.
This is the very top shelf. These are my Junior Classics. I've two sets. The slightly larger books on the left are the "Junior Classics" which have been in my family since the late fifties. The ones on the right are the "New Junior Classics". These were a gift from my sister in law. She was out thrifting and came upon this set. Knowing how much I loved this series, she grabbed snatched them up and gave them to me. She is one of the sweetest and most sincere people I've ever known. Back to the books, this set is missing book number one, so I've been on the lookout for this missing book for over fifteen years. I've yet to find one to replace it.This is the copyright page from book one of the first set. This is the copyright page from book two of the second set. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you'll visit Tam to see who else is sharing and while you're at it, why don't you join in the fun and share your collections too :0).
Remember that half the joy of achievement is in the anticipation.

Great post. I see you have some of the same Debbie Macomber books too. I also have the same pink bible that you have. Thanks for sharing. I hope you get your library some day.:-)
Hey! I will pray you get your library!! I love books too, I just don't get to read as often. Have you ever listen to the Red Tent on CD? It is a fictional book with references from the Old Testament...like what it might have been like between Leah and Rachel (the bickering and just the life itself of the women in the Old Testament) I thought it was so cool. I never read the book but the CD was awesome! Have a blessed day!! I'm praying for your library!!
GM, I loved that you have a place for your books and it took me many years to have my own room..with 3 kids there was never enough room..thanks for coming by and taking the TIME to see my clocks girl..hope you have a blessed day..I added you to my list...hugs and smiles Gloria
Hi Rechelle! What a nice place for your books! Wish I had more time to read. My kids are grown and married and I'm busier now than ever!! Thanks for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
My sis-in-law has the same telephone niche, also filled with a books and a small framed photo of her mom as a little girl!
I wholeheartedly agree that there can never be too many books. :)
I like the little nook you have your books in. I had the same set of Childcraft books for my daughter when she was little. I also saw the Love You Forever book on the shelf. I can't read that book without crying!!
I love books too and have a few hundred on the shelves. Even though I do sell some on Amazon Marketplace, I also belong to paperback swap and have a constant flow of books in and out.
(love the music)
Ahh... books just take over don't they?!
What a great collection you have.. or at least, the 1/100th part of it I can see, lol!
We have books EVERYWHERE, and mags too. Book people would totally understand, but to non bookworms I'm sure our house looks like a cluttered dump. Oh well, that's what Margaret Mitchell called her apt. that she wrote GWTW in, so I can live with it!
Maybe we will get our "libraries" finished at the same time...I know it will be a while for us... sigh........
A libary, what a great idea, hmmm I may have to consider that the day my nest is empty, which also won't be for a while. I love reading but don't get to do it as much as I like. The time I used to spend on reading books I am now spending on reading blogs...LOL.
I'm sorry about all of the issues with Mr.Linky this week. Let's hope it will not give us a hard time next Thursday.
Have a wonderful weekend,
