Autumn has finally arrived....

Hey everybody! Remember me? I know it's been a long while since I've been here or around, but I have been so incredibly busy. The bottom line? I need to learn how to better manage my time. This year I am active in PTA, not just a volunteer for functions and such, but the treasurer and on the board. It's been quite the experience so far, and imagine, I've got until June! Egads! Thankfully last year's treasurer is a truly wonderful person and she has been "training" me, plus the school staff and principle are appreciative and fantastic! I do love that I'm building better and stronger relationships with these individuals.

HAPPY AUTUMN !!!
Living in So Cal means there is no such thing as a 'change of season'. As a matter of fact I am looking out my front window and not a "turning" leaf is in sight! Ten years ago when we moved here, we did get to appreciate the turning of the leaves as the majority of our neighborhood had Maple trees planted in their front yards. Well, about four/five years ago, the trees contracted a disease that spread (via air) and all the trees were removed :0(.
Now, I make my own Autumn. I've always been one to decorate for the seasons...and Autumn is no exception. I begin putting little things up as soon as the kids go back to school and my Autumn decor stays up until The day after Thanksgiving.

This year I felt like Autumn was never going to arrive. As of last week we were still experiencing temps in the high 90s and triple digits. As of Friday we were still in the low 90s and then WHAM! Autumn made herself known on Saturday, entering in with breezy days and temps that were comfortable. Windows were once again opened to let those fresh breezes blow through and the A/C was set to "OFF". The past few days have been glorious and cool. Today my kids actually wore long pants and jackets to school for the first time since April! I sit here with socks on my feet sipping on a cup of Earl Gray....oh Autumn, how I love that you are finally, finally here....

Come in, Come in...

A happy vignette
greets you
as you come inside...

I still haven't decided what color
I'm painting this cabinet...

but in the meantime
it gets a
bit of "dressing"
for the season...

Simple touches of Autumn
here and there...
(oh! There's my pepper shaker!)

A favorite place to just "be"
Mr. WHC brought those flowers
to me "Just Because". I cut the stems down
and arranged them in a jar.
The tablecloth is a gift
from my friend
J.J.
I hosted Bunco this month and all the gals

bring the "hostess" her gift of choice.
I had "Autumn decor and tablecloths" on my "wish list".
As you can see, this is "both" in one.
Woot! Woot!
Thank you so much for stopping by and for not forgetting about me. I appreciate all the comments I've received and will be doing my best to get "out and about" and re-acquaint myself with everyone. I've missed you all!

Thanks for coming by Rechelle. If you also visit my sewing and craft blog you will see what else I have been up to. Because of those projects I don't get around to blog hopping as much.

I don't know if I have mentioned the trip much. I forget. Anyway, we are going to visit our kids. I decided that is what I want to do for our 30th wedding anniversary. Visit the kids!! Our anniversary was last month. First we will visit our daughter in Iowa. Then she will go with us to visit our son in Florida. We have not seen our son and his family for over 2 years. Our granddaughter is now 3 years old. Should be fun to see her and let her show us all the things she can do now. Can't wait. We leave in less than 2 weeks.

YAY for your cool weather. I love all your touches of Autumn in your home. We have had unseasonably cool weather in Oklahoma this year. Usually it doesn't really get cold until Halloween or the week before. We haven't had the air on for a few weeks now....LOVE it! Oh, I love playing Bunco...it is a blast!!! Have a great day.♥

Hi Rechelle and thanks for stopping by. I will keep an eye open for those peppers for sure.
I have the same tablecloth as you, two in fact. I would sorely miss the changing of the leaves and such if we didn't live here in BC. It is truly spectacular.

I'm blowing realllllly hard towards the west, hoping this rain makes it over to ya. This is a record year for rain -- the creek was up so high a couple of weeks ago that I couldn't get to work!

Hi Rechelle. :) Your home does look all fallish inside. It's fun to pull all of those goodies out, isn't it?

It just made my heart ache to hear about all those maple trees dying. That's terrible.

I love love love your "welcome" sign with the leaves -- it's adorable!

When we arrived at my daughter's Pasadena apartment on 9/25, it was 103 degrees -- holy moly! We stayed in Newport Beach though and the weather there was spectacular all week -- daytimes in the low 80s to mid-70s.

I will let you know when we are heading back to CA . Alida will be in SoCal for at least another 4 years so plenty of visits ahead. :-)

Good to see you back around. I soooo understand about MIA in bloggerville. I have slowed a bit recently, I do miss it but just not enough brain cells to go around ;-/
I understand ALL THE WORK of PTA...I was president one year and then we began homeschooling.
And bunco...sooo much fun. Haven't played in several years but do remember the good girl times.
Thanks for coming by and see ya next time ;-)

Hi Rechelle,
thanks for the touching comments you left! Your Autumn decor looks very pretty, it must be strange not getting seasons I have never experienced that but I am glad your getting some cooler weather. Welcome back to blogging, sounds like you're very busy too! Cindy

Hey! Yes I am so glad too about the weather! Because I too love autumn even though we live in a place with hardly any autumn haha. So I decorate and make my own too! I love your decorations! You host bunco!? I'm so jealous! I love bunco! My best friend's grandmother, who I've known my whole life, always hosted bunco at this time of year, but just over summer she moved out of state so I am sooo sad! No more bunco :( Again love your decor! Hope you're well! :)

All the best,
Allison

Hey Rechelle!
Great to "see" you back! I know what you're saying about volunteering. I'm involved in something similar and it's been a ton of work. Almost a part-time job at times :).

A hearty welcome back Rechlle. I loved haring from you but I was out of town helping my sisters move their antique business right next door to their existing mall. Four days of the hardest work. LOL. It all looks beautiful. I am showing what we did tomorrow.

Your home looks very festive and very much like my favorite season of the year. It is all so warm and cosy. Since you love the cottage look, maybe your shelf should be painted white. I know you will come up with something very attractive. How fun to have Bunco and receive gifts too. I love the plaid tablecloth in your dining or breakfast room. The corner cabinet is wonderful.

Did I tell you we are getting a poodle puppy in November? We can hardly wait. She is just 4 weeks old. I will show some photos on Sat. It will be almost a year since we lost our Babette. We have missed her so much.

Love and hugs, Jeanne

Dang.....I'm really behind the curve ball when it comes to the fall decorating. You've inspired me...still, I don't know when I'll have time to get to it. Your is so cozy and warm....

I'm up to seven pillows now and plan to make at least a few more. The plain Pottery Barn ones are up next. :-)

Hugs,
Spencer
