Yay! It's Show & Tell Friday !!!

It's that time again! Time for show & tell Friday hosted by the ever so gracious Kelli @ There's no place like home. Be sure to pay her a visit and see who else is "sharing" today.

Today I'm showing our hall bathroom that got a face lift early last year. It now sits in a state of arrested development as I am experiencing a creative and decorating brain fart. It needs, longs for, and begs for accessorizing and yet, I'm just "stuck" as to what I want to do here. Then I thought "my fellow bloggerinas can help me!". Now I do know I want to add a galvenized bucket for my "trash can" but beyond that, I would really appreciate your input. Thanks so much!

As of now that little planter stand holding the lotions and towels has been painted a nice shiny black and the basket below is no longer there. So, what would you put on the walls? Would you put a different kind of rug? I would like to keep some kind of bath mat around since tile can get soooo cold (brr!)
Thanks again!

This looks like wainscoting on the walls...so it's early American decor. I'd go with some apothecary jars filled with colored marbles sitting on the cabinet or perhaps putting up a small shelf of them tiered around the mirror, with a plant maybe? I'd swag the shower curtain with some gold chain or huge cord. Find some inexpensive Victorian paintings and frame them for the wall. [LOVE the color of wall paint!!!!]

Happy Show n Tell Friday, and happy new year.

I just want to say that I love that shade of soft teal blue that's on the walls. Thanks for sharing. Happy Show 'n Tell Friday.

I like understated bathrooms. I would say it's done and that you did a very good job of making it simple and sweet. xxoo

What a great re-do..love the color. I would probably add a vintage wall mirror or maybe look for sihouettes for the wall. I love chenille and a chenille bath mat would be fun...hugs, Linda

I really like your bathroom! Mine is crying for a makeover right now....

Looks good so far! With nice colors. Maybe more of the wire art or whatever that is you already have on the large expanse of wall you have there. Does that make sense? It looks soothing. I like the idea of bathrooms being soothing.

I, too, thought that silhouettes would be pretty in black frames maybe hanging by a pretty ribbon. It truly is beautiful just as it is!

I think it looks very pretty the way it is now. If you want to add something, I like the silhouette idea that was offered.

Found my way via Donna's @ Enchanted Cottage.

That is my all-time favorite shade of blue. It looks smashing w/ the black & white toile!

I love your toile! What about a putting a towel with your black one that matches your wall color? I would maybe add some candle sconces on either side of your ironwork on the one wall...just add some white candles. How about a scrolly-type wooden accent on your vanity, too? Just paint it white to match and put it in the middle of the large rectangle.

Blessings,
Lisa

Lots of great ideas already. None really to add.

Look forward to seeing it completed (although I like it already!)

I am not going to be any use at all - I think that your choice of colour and the simplicity of how it looks right now is just divine!!

Happy New Year from County Armagh!

PS I laughed like a drain about you having a decorating brain fart! A perfect description of something that happens me all the time!!

It's very nice. I myself would a a little greenery somewhere. A little soft plant.

I think it is a really pretty color combo! I might add in a little bit more black to tie it all together. Charming for sure!
Happy New Year,
Becky

I love the color combo. That blue is what I have in my bedroom, maybe a bit darker but same family.

My advise...you have a long narrow bathroom so I would avoid anything that has to sit on the floor or anything that sticks out too far from the wall.

Adding a vintage frame around the mirror, maybe look for little lamp shades that are more victorian and someone else mentioned finding vintage art, frame it like the mirror as well or even those silouhettes would be cool.

Another option is using black wired art in different shapes, do a grouping and keep it simple.

On the floor, I would go with a runner and matching mat in front of the tub/sink/toilet area so not too many pieces just a couple that take up more space on the floor.

I don't know what it looked like before but it looks really nice already. Great job.

I think it's pretty! I have no ideas, though -- I have a wall of my own that has been waiting for attention for months.

Your bathroom is very pretty! I've said it before, I'm not the person to ask about decorating ideas. I'm NO GOOD at it.

One thing I remembered a freind doing is taking black and white pictures of her kids in the tub (tasteful of course) and hanging them up. Now that only works if you have YOUNG children. LOL! I'm sure there aren't too many over 10 who would go for that idea! It also depends on who will be visiting your bathroom LOL!

Like I said, my ideas are limited!

take care,
Dawn

I love the wainscoting. And the colors. I am one of those who needs help too. You seem to have a great start on creating a really nice room. I think you are trying for a country look if you like galvanized.
