She shouted from the roof tops!
She screamed it in the streets!
Okay, so not really but I know you can appreciate my excitement when I say...
THE HINGES ARE DONE!!!
Thirty, that's right! "30" 1954 vintage cabinet hinges. All nice and shiny, restored to their "almost" former glory. Oh my aching hands, chipped and split fingernails, and sweaty brow. They are now cleaned, bagged, and waiting patiently until they can return to their respective place on their cabinet door. They are not "perfect". They are perfectly imperfect and I'd like to think this just adds to their vintage charm and character. I know it's only one step in the everlong DIY kitchen adventure, but it is one thing I can check off my "to do" list.
As I side note. I just received, via UPS, my "new" camera. Hubby gave it to me last year as my Christmas/Anniversary/Birthday gift and ten months later while on vacation in Sedona, the camera just stopped working. I sent it in to Panasonic's service center and it has been repaired! These photos were taken with the new camera. Believe me, I know I've all ready shared the "look" of the hinges but hey, I needed to use the camera. Right? Right! Resolution is so much better so I'm sure you'll see a few smudges and perhaps even a few pieces of paint that I was unable to remove. As I said before: Perfectly imperfect is always okay with me.
Remember that half the joy of achievement is in the anticipation.
