Perhaps it's my memories that make this so special. Perhaps it's the beauty in it's simplicity. I'm always on the hunt for pieces that have gone missing, for pieces that had the misfortune of breaking(which is a rarity), and for pieces to add to my growing collection. It's not fancy, it's not worth thousands of dollars, but it's a must have for me and I use it almost daily. Hmm, I just had a realization:

I mean seriously. Who can't love Corningware?It's versatility-from stove top or oven straight to the table.
It's practicality-cookware that can double as serving dishes PLUS it looks great!

And to think that wayyyy back in 1957 a lab mistake was all it took and the introduction of CORNINGWARE hit consumers the following year.
My favorite kind of collectible is one that I can use...and use them, I do.

I love the old pink patterns....I've gone back to mostly glass in the kitchen....it just makes a difference, I think. I found some old quart mason jars....am now even using them for drinking glasses. Do you have a divided dish? Oh, I love those also.....around here, they run about $12.00 in antique malls. Every now and again, I'll find one at a garage sale.
You can imagine the sadness I felt when I dropped my favorite piece of Corningware last year - which had been passed down to me by my mom and it shattered on my tile floor. This was my first visit to your blog and I enjoyed my stay.
Rechelle, I have my great grandmother's blue flower corning ware. I love it and use it all the time. It reminds me of when I would go to her house for Christmas dinner and all of her wonderfully tasting foods were prepared and served in these dishes! I think we might have the same memories.

Lol! I just bought 2 pieces of pyrex that I need to take a picture of. I am redoing some aspects of the kitchen and found 2 pieces with the right color green and 1 had chickens on it! I love to be able to use what I buy. Somethings I just use to make me smile but I love to really use my things! Love your collection...it is my mom's pattern!

Rechelle, I have a square corning ware casserole dish with the corner broken and I can't get rid of it. It belonged to my mother-in-law and She was a very special person in my life. I broke it but I can still use it. Love your collection and your memories.

I have one casserole dish and two small square bowls, I think they came along with my DH! Such fond memories! Oh, stop on over to my blog blog (as opposed to the selling one) and see the little Pea Sprouts with the goats, so cute! Go back a couple posts too to see them just hatched!

Ah,yes,my mother and grandmother had these when I was younger as well as the plates.I recieved the plates with a few missing pieces and alas,I lost MANY due to not caring enough to realize how great they would be to me now.*sigh*

Funny, that is the same pattern I took to college, yet is was that orangish/brownish/goldish color.
